Start Your NEW YEAR with YOGA
The Upanishads, a classic Vedic text, speaks to the power of intention & desire:
“You are what your deepest desire is. As your desire is, so is your intention. As your intention is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.”
The YOGA 2021 check list:
Move More: Start easy with sun salutations or begin a comfortable walking regime, exercise releases endorphins, and gives you a uplifting feeling.
Breathe Better: Try Alternate Nostril Breathing, for inner balance and harmony. Also known as Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, Alternate Nostril Breathing synchronizes the right and left hemispheres of the brain, helping to focus the mind and keep unwanted stress and anxiety at bay.
Eat Well: Incorporate more powerhouse superfoods into your diet. Whole, unprocessed foods that contain a concentrated amount of nutrients. These incredible, natural packages have superpowers such as warding off cancers, heart disease, diabetes, and more.
Relax and Restore: Slow down and take time to decompress physically, in savasana (corpse pose) or any restorative posture that encourages deep relaxation. Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night, which will restore the body's energy.
Loving Kindness: Create good thoughts, direct them to yourself and to others. Be of service to someone in need. Practice kindness.
Meditation: To start a loving kindness meditation, you might envision a loved one in your mind and wish them happiness. You can then extend that love to yourself and other people in your life.
You can use a simple phrase (a mantra) that you silently repeat to yourself, like 'may you enjoy happiness' as you hold that person in your mind.
